What do you think about 18,000 cpls facing possible involuntary divorce?

What will happen? They will lose tax benefits. They will not be able to have an automatic right to visit their sick partner in a hospital bed if the parents and/or "blood" relative disagree. They can come home after the death of a partner to find that the "blood" relatives have stripped everything out of the house because as non-spouses they don't have a right to anything in there - legally they're just "roommates". There's a hell of a lot more that can happen to them as well. I've seen all of it over the years. Oh, btw., the "children" will no longer have two parents by law, only one. And no, domestic partnerships are not the same and don't provide the same protections. I wish they did because this whole insanity could have been avoided that way.
