What are the ingredients to the iodine dye used for CT Scans?
An iodine allergy has nothing to do with eating seafood. The allergies people have with shellfish and seafood are based on specific proteins that those animals make, and not the tiny amount of iodine in their system. However, Iodine allergies are not always that much of a problem with RCM dye reactions. There are other binders and such in the chemicals to keep the radioiodine bound so it pes cleanly out of your system. There is just a small percentage of people who have reactions to the contrast dyes. Ask your physician if LOCM (non-ionic low-osmolality contrast media) is ok to use, as it has a lower incidence of reaction, but it is far more expensive.
