Need help finding the title of an old country song?

This song came out in the later 80s (MAYBE early 90s but I don't think so). It was about an old man and it mentioned an old spit cup and I can't remember what it is. It was by someone like randy travis or ricky van shelton but it wasn't one of them as far as I can find. THANKS!
