First Strike Attacking/Blocking Question?

If I have Thoughtweft Trio in play (5/5, first strike, vigilance, can block any number of creatures), what would happen if 10 1/1 tokens attacked? Could I block all of them and deal 8 damage to each? Or would I have to divide 8 damage between them? Would it be different if I was attacking?
